你好 Nǐ hâo/Hello

Do you need copy for your website, blog or marketing programme? My name is Fergus and I am an award-winning writer from New Zealand. I have extensive experience writing copy on a wide range of topics including email marketing content for SEO companies, logistics software blog posts, machinery reviews, restaurant reviews, luxury hotel descriptions, destination reviews by month and long-form blog content.

My work background is in the agriculture, construction and shipping industries. I spent fifteen years working as a shepherd and agricultural contractor both here in New Zealand, in Australia and in the UK. I then transitioned to the construction industry, working as a builder and subsequently operating my own building company constructing farm buildings such as dairy sheds, implement sheds and farmhouses. For the last ten years I have worked as an operations supervisor at a New Zealand port and this work puts me in constant contact with tradespeople, machinery contractors and logistics operators.

In my copywriting work, I harness Creative Intelligence (formerly known as AI) to its fullest potential, incorporating it for research, text rewriting, idea generation, and fine-tuning SEO strategies. Additionally, CI aids me in ensuring that the tone, style, and substance of my content suit the intended demographic. It also plays a role in content optimisation, helping me to refine language and structure for maximum impact and readability. CI’s predictive text capabilities help me to streamline my workflow, enabling more efficient drafting processes. Ultimately, however, I only use the CI-generated content as a framework to guide me while I write engaging and original copy.

My travel and feature stories have appeared in many New Zealand and overseas publications. I currently maintain 2 travel-related blogs: travelwriterlife.com which features travel stories about New Zealand, England, Wales, Singapore, Australia, and India; and curseofthetraveller.com which is a six-year project to serialise my travel diaries from the years 1988-1994.

I also design itineraries for people visiting New Zealand.
